Iphofen 15 December 2015: The partner committee of the KNAUF group has announced the appointment of Mr Thies Knauf as the new CEO of Knauf Insulation as of 1 December 2015. Mr Knauf replaces Tony Robson who ran the business for over 10 years.

Mr Knauf has over 40 years’ experience in managing KNAUF businesses within the plaster board and industry divisions as well as the insulation business. He was in fact instrumental in the creation of the insulation business having started Knauf Insulation in 1978.

Commenting on his appointment Mr Knauf said: “When I first took over the reins of a small business based out of Shelbyville, Indiana in 1978, I would have never believed that we could grow the business from a €28 million a year company to one of the leading global players in insulation, with a turnover close to €1.6 billion. Much of this growth was achieved during the 10 years that Tony Robson has been CEO”.

Looking at the opportunities and challenges ahead for Knauf Insulation, Mr Knauf added:

As I step back into the business, it is clear that Tony hands back a business that is well positioned to move forward to even more success. I look forward to working with colleagues across the globe to make this happen”.
