A total of 20 Green Building Councils from around the world, many of which Knauf Insulation actively supports, today unveiled national commitments to transform the sustainability of their buildings to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure that the building and construction industry plays its part in limiting global warming to 2 degrees.
Buildings currently account for around one third of global emissions. But green building is one of the most cost-effective solutions to climate change, which generates significant environmental, economic and societal benefits.
The commitments were made at Buildings Day - the official COP21 meeting led by Ségolène Royal, the French Minister of Ecology and former presidential candidate.
Vincent Briard, Head of Sustainability, Products & Building at Knauf Insulation, said: “It’s great to see Green Building Councils from across the world demonstrating real leadership on green buildings by launching ambitious commitments at these critical climate change negotiations in Paris.
“At Knauf Insulation we actively support the work of these important networks and are working hard to play our part in helping local GBCs to deliver their commitments.”
